Often, victims of sexual assault and their families face many uncertainties and difficult choices in the aftermath of an assault, including whether to hire an attorney and what to expect from a prosecutor versus a civil attorney. One of the most confusing aspects of our justice system is the interplay between the civil and criminal justice systems. This webinar will explain the differences between the two systems, specifically as they pertain to sexual assault and abuse victims and what victims can expect from each of the systems. Attorneys Dave Ring and Matt Murphy will discuss their experience with both the criminal and civil justice system through their work and what victim advocates and other victim services professionals need to know when assisting victims of sexual assault and abuse.
